UK patent has now been granted for MedMat

Ergomedica are pleased to announce that a UK patent has now been granted for MedMat. We are looking forward to an exciting 2010 with MedMat following the completion of our 12 month clinical programme. In 2009 MedMat was recognised by two separate department of health programmes both aimed at identifying key clinical products that will aid the fight against healthcare acquired infections in the UK.
The smart solutions programme was completed in Bristol where MedMat was vigorously tested on over 600 patients in the community, spanning a broad range of clinical procedures and clinical settings. We are eagerly awaiting the formal results from this large trial that we hope to see published later in the year. Southampton NHS trust is one of 7 department of health showcase hospitals who requested to trial MedMat in 2009. Similarly to the Bristol study MedMat was rigorously put to the test by a number of departments and was used to treat over 100 patients.
We believe that these independent studies will provide a firm clinical foundation for Medmat which is already known to be an excellent 'common sense' product.
Sunlight clinical solutions, the UK distributor for MedMat, have introduced a MedMat wound pack. This procedure pack aims to provide all the components required to conduct a wound dressing change in one easy peel pouch package.

Winners of the HCAI Technology Innovation Summit & Awards 2009. On Thursday 26 February, 2009, the Department of Health and the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency announced the winners of the awards programme that highlighted and celebrated innovation and success within the field of HCAI related technology and technological developments.
ErgoMedica came 1st in the Innovative Technological Concept: Originating from industry with the most potential to prevent HCAI. Below Charlotte Butterfield collects the award.

MedMat is demonstrated to Ann Keen

Nine products have been selected as winners in the competition to find new ways to help combat healthcare associated infections (HCAIs) and MedMat is one of them.
We have been chosen from around 250 applications submitted to the Smart Solutions for HCAI programme, which aimed to identify innovative technologies from different industry sectors with the potential to fight hospital bugs. The winning products will all be evaluated in a hospital setting beginning in early 2009, with a view to supplying them across the NHS if they prove to be effective.
